If you noted differ issues with CT creation like "Warning: configuration file for distribution not found default used running: /usr/libexec/libvzctl/dists/scripts/postcreate.sh "
Or something else - you may try to completely reinstall EZ template.
The *vzpkg remove template /cache/ <template name>* command will not allow you to remove template if the template used by some CT. However there exists a way to do it safely. Remember to check the repos if you got messages like "no package <ez template name>"
For any case check the installed templates caches:
vzpkg list -O
Remove template and template config dir:
yum remove ubuntu-16.04-x86_64-ez rm -rf /vz/template/ubuntu/16.04
Install template and update template cache:
yum install ubuntu-16.04-x86_64-ez vzpkg update cache ubuntu-16.04-x86_64
Check template config files if need:
ls /vz/template/ubuntu/16.04/x86_64/config/os/default/
